Non-fiction Book Club – Women Informing Women

Open to the public

This group meets the first Tuesday of the month at 4:30 PM via Zoom. Members choose a topic that will be discussed for one or two months. The members select their own book. Sometimes participants only have time to read news or research articles. Past topics have included women in the middle east, women’s health, first ladies, women in space, and frontier women. Members take turns facilitating the monthly meetings. Each member reports on their book choice or article and often a lively discussion follows.  If you haven’t attended our non-fiction book group “Women Informing Women”, we want you to feel invited!

Great Decisions

This group meets once a month starting in February, via Zoom.  Think of this as ‘brain health’ and a way to understand world-wide issues. Each year the Foreign Policy Association publishes a Briefing Book containing topics for discussion and provides impartial, thought-provoking analysis on current issues facing U.S. policy makers. The topics for 2024 are: Mideast Realignment; Climate Technology & Competition; Science Across Borders; US-Chili Trade Rivalry; NATO’s Future; Understanding Indonesia; High Seas Treaty, & Pandemic Preparedness. The cost of the book is $35: Each person orders their own book. The time and day will be decided upon by the participants. Each participant is expected to facilitate the discussion and questions of one topic. Discussion questions are provided at the end of each topic.

Apr. 5, Friday at 3:00 PM – Risky Science Across Borders – Zoom

This is an informal group looking to join other members to see new movies, local theater productions or concerts. See something interesting or fun? Let our contact know and she will make a “shout out” to all members who might like to go and set up a date and time to meet.
